Job summary

Traveloka is seeking a Lead Backend Engineer for its Marketing Tech Engineering team. You will design and ship multi-service systems, own global performance tradeoffs, and guide the API contracts that other teams rely on.

You will mentor junior engineers and act as on-call authority to ensure reliability at scale. You will collaborate with Product to map technical dependencies, steer architectural decisions, and shape how AI tools are used to speed delivery while managing risk.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Designed and operated systems spanning multiple services.
• Owns system-level tradeoffs: latency, cost, consistency.
• Produces clear API contracts and delivery plans.
• Mentors junior to mid-level engineers through code reviews.
• Acts as senior on-call authority to prevent incidents.

Responsibilities

• Design and ship multi-service systems for Marketing with strong focus on latency and cost.
• Decompose product problems into clean service architectures and APIs.
• Set the technical bar with rigorous code reviews and API design.
• Mentor and grow junior to mid-level engineers.
• Lead on-call reliability and incident response for critical systems.
• Collaborate with Product to map tech dependencies and integrations.
