Job summary

Traveloka is seeking a Lead Backend Engineer for the Customer Care team to design the systems your area is built on and set the technical direction with impact on the domain's results.

You will own cross-service architecture, API contracts, and on-call reliability, mentor engineers, and influence the engineering roadmap, including how AI tools are used to speed delivery while guarding risk.

Qualifications

• You have at least 8 years of backend engineering experience.
• You have designed a system spanning multiple services from scratch and deployed it in production.
• You own system-level tradeoffs like consistency, latency, and cost.
• You decompose ambiguous product problems into clean service architectures.
• You produce clear API contracts and delivery plans.
• You have led a system through significant scale or reliability improvements.
• You set the technical bar through rigorous reviews and mentoring.

Responsibilities

• Design and ship multi-service systems for Customer Care, owning system-level tradeoffs.
• Decompose product problems into service architectures, API contracts, and plans.
• Set the technical bar through rigorous review and API design.
• Mentor junior to mid-level engineers through review and pairing.
• Act as senior on-call authority to prevent incidents through durable design.
• Influence the engineering roadmap with technical proposals.
• Direct how the team uses AI tools to speed delivery while managing risk.
