Job summary

Design Assembly is seeking an architect who is a strong designer and enjoys developing ideas into resolved, coordinated, buildable concepts. This hands-on role spans concept design, design development, technical documentation, consultant coordination and construction.

You will work closely with a Senior Architect and Studio Directors, contributing to projects from early design stages and taking increasing responsibility for day-to-day development and delivery.

Responsibilities

• Contributing to concept design, including site planning, massing, layouts and architectural studies.
• Developing projects from concept through design development, documentation and construction while maintaining design intent.
• Producing and coordinating architectural drawings, details and technical information to a high standard.
• Coordinating with consultants and taking increasing ownership of the day‑to‑day progression of assigned projects.
• Contributing to client presentations, project meetings and site reviews as appropriate.
• Working collaboratively with Senior and Junior Architects, the drafting team and wider studio, while sharing knowledge and supporting less experienced team members.

Design Assembly is an international architecture and design studio specialising in hospitality and residential projects in tropical climates.

Founded in 2015, our work has grown primarily across Southeast Asia, with projects and collaborations now extending internationally.

Our practice is concept-led. We are interested in architecture shaped by place — by climate, landscape, culture, material and the way people move through and experience a project over time. Much of our work sits between architecture, hospitality, wellness and landscape, with a strong emphasis on spatial experience, local craft and creating buildings that feel grounded in their context rather than imposed upon it.

Our work has been shaped by years of experience in Indonesia, where climate, craft, material knowledge and outdoor living are deeply intertwined. We work closely with local makers, artisans and suppliers, and aim to create environments that are conceptually clear, spatially intuitive and specific to their place.

Our Bali studio works internationally, with an additional presence in the UK.

The Role
