Job summary

Design Assembly in Bali is seeking an architect with strong design skills to develop ideas into resolved, coordinated, and buildable solutions. Job description

Design Assembly is an international architecture and design studio specializing in hospitality and residential projects in tropical climates.

Founded in 2015, our work has grown primarily across Southeast Asia, with projects and collaborations now extending internationally.

Our practice is concept-led. We are interested in architecture shaped by place — by climate, landscape, culture, material and the way people move through and experience a project over time. Much of our work sits between architecture, hospitality, wellness and landscape, with a strong emphasis on spatial experience, local craft and creating buildings that feel grounded in their context rather than imposed upon it.

Our work has been shaped by years of experience in Indonesia, where climate, craft, material knowledge and outdoor living are deeply intertwined. We work closely with local makers, artisans and suppliers, and aim to create environments that are conceptually clear, spatially intuitive and specific to their place.

Our Bali studio works internationally, with an additional presence in the UK.

The Role

We’re looking for an architect who is a strong designer but also enjoys the process of developing an idea into something resolved, coordinated and buildable.

This is a hands‑on architectural role spanning concept design, design development, technical documentation, consultant coordination and construction.

Working closely with a Senior Architect and our Studio Directors, you will contribute to projects from their early design stages and take increasing responsibility for their day-to-day development and delivery.

About the role

The role will include:

• Contributing to concept design, including site planning, massing, layouts and architectural studies.
• Developing projects from concept through design development, documentation and construction while maintaining design intent.
• Producing and coordinating architectural drawings, details and technical information to a high standard.
• Coordinating with consultants and taking increasing ownership of the day-to-day progression of assigned projects.
• Contributing to client presentations, project meetings and site reviews as appropriate.
• Working collaboratively with Senior and Junior Architects, the drafting team and wider studio, while sharing knowledge and supporting less experienced team members.

About you

We are looking for someone with:

• A minimum of 3 years experience working as an architect
• An understanding and an alignment with our studio’s design philosophy.
• Strong architectural and spatial design ability, with professional experience across concept, design development and documentation.
• Good technical understanding and an interest in construction, detailing and buildability.
• Experience producing accurate, coordinated architectural documentation and working with consultants.
• The ability to organise and take ownership of project work while recognising when senior input is required.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working within a team.
• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, with proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp and relevant visualisation software.
• An interest in hospitality and residential architecture, landscape, materiality and climate-responsive design is important.
