PT Kokai Indo Abadi in Indonesia seeks a Product & Process Design Engineer to develop, improve, and industrialize valve products from concept through prototype and production. We are looking for a Product & Process Design Engineer who will be responsible for developing, improving, and industrializing valve products from design concept through prototype, testing, and manufacturing.
This role requires strong knowledge of mechanical product design, valve manufacturing processes, engineering standards, and problem-solving, as well as the ability to work closely with Production, Quality, Purchasing, suppliers, and customers.
Develop and improve valve product designs based on applicable API, ASME, ASTM, JIS, and other relevant engineering standards.
Conduct research, engineering analysis, and design reviews to develop product concepts that meet technical, quality, cost, and manufacturability requirements.
Prepare and maintain 2D engineering drawings, 3D models, assembly drawings, Bill of Materials (BOM), and other technical documentation.
Perform product design activities using SolidWorks and AutoCAD, including modeling, drawing creation, modification, and design documentation.
Review design specifications, dimensions, tolerances, materials, and interfaces to ensure product functionality and manufacturability.
Plan project milestones, development schedules, engineering activities, and deliverables.
Develop prototypes and coordinate trial, testing, evaluation, and validation of new or modified valve products.
Analyze prototype and testing results and perform design modifications until the product is ready for production.
Develop and improve manufacturing processes to ensure products can be produced consistently, efficiently, and according to engineering specifications.
Apply APQP principles throughout product development and participate in DFMEA, PFMEA, control plans, and related quality planning activities.
Identify and resolve technical problems related to product design and manufacturing processes through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Work closely with Production, Quality, Purchasing, suppliers, and other departments to troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing and product-related issues.
Support technical discussions with customers and suppliers regarding product specifications, design changes, technical issues, and product improvements.
Review existing products and manufacturing processes and provide recommendations for design optimization, cost reduction, quality improvement, and manufacturability.
Evaluate engineering changes and ensure relevant drawings, BOMs, specifications, and technical documents are properly updated.
Prepare clear and accurate engineering reports, trial reports, design review documentation, and other technical records.
Ensure all assigned engineering activities are completed accurately, on schedule, and in accordance with company procedures.
Diploma (D3) or Bachelor's Degree (S1) in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in mechanical product design and/or manufacturing engineering.
Strong knowledge of mechanical product design and manufacturing processes.
Experience in product development, design improvement, prototyping, trial, and design validation.
Proficient in SolidWorks and capable of creating and interpreting 2D engineering drawings.
Good understanding of engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, materials, and manufacturing processes.
Knowledge of API, ASME, ASTM, JIS, or other relevant standards, preferably within the valve, piping, oil & gas, petrochemical, or industrial equipment industry.
Understanding of APQP, DFMEA, PFMEA, and basic quality planning concepts.
Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills.
Able to analyze technical problems and develop practical solutions for manufacturing.
Good communication and coordination skills with cross-functional teams.
Able to communicate in English, both written and spoken.
Detail-oriented, analytical, responsible, adaptable, and willing to learn.
Able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team.
Experience in valve manufacturing or other pressure-containing/mechanical equipment industries.
Experience working with API 6D, API 600, API 602, API 608, API 609, or other applicable valve standards.
Experience with AutoCAD in addition to SolidWorks.
Experience with GD&T, tolerance stack-up, design calculation, and material selection.
Experience conducting manufacturing trials and resolving production-related design issues.
Experience working with suppliers and/or customers on technical matters.
Experience with cost reduction, value engineering, or design-for-manufacturing (DFM) initiatives.
