Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in instrumentation/related field.
• 5–10 years in Instrumentation & Control Engineering in Paper Mill/Process Industry.
• Experience with Paper Machine instrumentation and automation systems preferred.
• Strong knowledge of online analyzers, QCS, basis weight & moisture measurement.
• Ability to troubleshoot analyzers and coordinate with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize instrumentation systems in Paper Machine areas.
• Ensure reliability and accuracy of process measurement instruments (pressure, temperature, flow, level).

Instrument Engineer – Paper Machine (Analyzer & Process Control)

Job Purpose

Responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, and optimization of instrumentation systems, process analyzers, and control systems within the Paper Machine area. The role focuses on maintaining critical measurement systems, improving process stability, supporting product quality consistency, and minimizing production losses through effective instrumentation and automation reliability management.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of instrumentation systems within Paper Machine areas.
• Ensure reliability and accuracy of critical process measurement instruments including:
• Pressure, temperature, flow, level, and consistency measurement instruments.
• pH, conductivity, turbidity, and chemical/process analyzers.
• Online quality measurement systems and process monitoring devices.
• Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis for instrument failures, measurement deviations, and process instability.
• Develop and execute preventive, predictive, and condition‑based maintenance strategies for instrumentation assets.

Process Analyzer & Quality Control System (QCS)

• Maintain and optimize online analyzer systems supporting Paper Machine operation and product quality control.
• Ensure accuracy and availability of:
• Basis Weight Measurement System.
• Thickness/Caliper Measurement System.
• Scanner and QCS control equipment.
• Web measurement and quality monitoring systems.
• Perform calibration, verification, and performance evaluation of analyzer instruments.
• Analyze analyzer trends and measurement data to identify abnormal conditions and improvement opportunities.
• Coordinate with Production and Quality teams to improve process control performance and product consistency.

Reliability Improvement & Continuous Improvement

• Conduct RCA (Root Cause Analysis) for recurring instrumentation and analyzer failures.
• Develop corrective and preventive action plans to improve equipment reliability.
• Identify opportunities to reduce downtime, improve process stability, and enhance maintenance effectiveness.
• Support implementation of reliability tools such as FMEA, RCM, and bad actor elimination programs.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor Degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field.

Experience

• Minimum 5–10 years of experience in Instrumentation & Control Engineering within Paper Mill / Process Industry.
• Strong experience in Analyzer Instrument, QCS, and process measurement systems.
• Experience working with Paper Machine instrumentation and automation systems is preferred.

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of:
• Online process analyzers and measurement systems.
• QCS (Quality Control System).
• Basis Weight & Moisture Measurement.
• Process control instrumentation.
• Calibration and troubleshooting of analyzers.
