Job summary

JAPFA FOOD INDONESIA is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead and supervise all engineering and maintenance activities across our processing facilities in Indonesia.

You will develop preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs, optimize plant utilities, manage budgets, and drive continuous improvement while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of engineering or maintenance experience in manufacturing.
  • Experience in seafood processing, food processing, FMCG, frozen food, or cold storage is highly preferred.
  • Proven experience leading engineering or maintenance teams in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge in preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance; mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with PLC, instrumentation and industrial automation; safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise all engineering and maintenance activities to maximize equipment reliability.
  • Develop, implement, and improve preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Establish maintenance strategies to minimize downtime and maximize OEE.
  • Plan and supervise engineering projects, machine installation, and facility upgrades.
  • Manage contractors, budgets, and ensure regulatory compliance and food safety standards.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration with Production, QA, and Supply Chain.

Job description

Lead and supervise all engineering and maintenance activities to ensure maximum equipment reliability, plant availability, and operational efficiency.

Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.

Establish maintenance strategies that minimize equipment downtime and maximize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

Analyze equipment failures using Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement sustainable corrective and preventive actions.

Monitor maintenance performance through KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Plant Utilities & Technical Systems

Manage the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of:

  • Mechanical equipment and production machinery
  • Electrical distribution systems
  • PLC, instrumentation, and industrial automation systems
  • Refrigeration and cold storage systems
  • Boiler, air compressors, pumps, generators, and utility systems
  • Building facilities and supporting infrastructure

Ensure all systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory and food industry requirements.

Plan, coordinate, and supervise engineering projects, machine installation, equipment upgrades, plant expansion, and facility modifications.

Manage contractors and vendors to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and according to technical specifications.

Evaluate new technologies and engineering solutions to improve productivity, product quality, and operational efficiency.

Asset & Cost Management

Prepare and manage annual maintenance budgets.

Monitor maintenance expenditures and identify opportunities for cost optimization.

Develop spare parts management strategies to ensure equipment reliability while maintaining optimum inventory levels.

Support long-term asset management and capital replacement planning.

Food Safety, Safety & Compliance

Ensure all engineering activities comply with Occupational Health & Safety (K3), environmental regulations, and applicable statutory requirements.

Support and maintain compliance with food safety and quality management systems, including BRCGS, HACCP, GMP, BAP, ASC, and other relevant certification standards.

Promote a proactive safety culture and ensure adherence to safe work practices throughout the Engineering Department.

Leadership & People Development

Lead, coach, mentor, and develop engineering technicians to build a competent and high-performing team.

Plan manpower utilization and establish work priorities to achieve departmental objectives.

Foster strong cross-functional collaboration with Production, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, and other departments.

Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications
Education

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other related Engineering disciplines.

Experience

Minimum 5 years of engineering or maintenance experience within manufacturing industries.

Experience in seafood processing, food processing, FMCG, frozen food, cold storage, or other continuous manufacturing industries is highly preferred.

Proven experience leading engineering or maintenance teams in a manufacturing environment.
