Asia Pulp and Paper (APP) in South Sumatra, Indonesia, is seeking a seasoned commissioning engineer to lead the start-up of DCS, PLC, SCADA, HMI, and field instrumentation systems at OKI site. You will verify against design documents, perform tests, troubleshoot automation issues, coordinate with mechanical and electrical teams, support FAT/SAT, ensure safety compliance, and hand over final documentation.
Responsibilities include preparing commissioning records, coordinating with vendors, and
Lead the commissioning, testing, and start-up of DCS, PLC, SCADA, HMI, and field instrumentation systems.
Verify automation systems against engineering design documents, P&IDs, control narratives, and functional design specifications.
Perform loop checks, I/O checks, interlock verification, cause-and-effect testing, and functional acceptance tests.
Configure, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC/DCS logic and process control parameters.
Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and process commissioning teams to ensure integrated system performance.
Diagnose and resolve automation and control system issues during pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
Support vendor Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and performance guarantee tests.
Ensure compliance with safety standards, permit-to-work procedures, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and commissioning protocols.
Prepare commissioning procedures, testing records, punch lists, and final commissioning reports.
Provide technical support during plant start-up, stabilization, and performance optimization.
Train operations and maintenance personnel on automation system operation, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.
Support final handover of automation systems to the operations team with complete documentation.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
Extensive experience in automation commissioning for industrial plants, preferably in pulp & paper, petrochemical, power, or process industries.
Strong knowledge of PLC, DCS, SCADA, HMI, industrial communication networks, and field instrumentation.
Experience with leading automation platforms (e.g., Siemens, ABB, Emerson, Honeywell, Yokogawa, Rockwell).
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills during plant commissioning.
Familiarity with international safety and commissioning standards.
Excellent coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
A contract-based during project phase, with a high chance of permanent during operation & maintenance phase.
Willing to be placed in OKI, South Sumatra.
