Job summary

The British School Jakarta invites applications for a Finance Manager who will support the Head of Finance in providing strategic and operational leadership across the School’s financial and taxation functions.

This role ensures robust financial governance, planning, tax compliance and efficiency, acting as a key partner to school leaders and business users to support the School’s long‑term sustainability and strategic objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Finance Management or another relevant discipline.
• 8–10 years’ experience in finance and accounting, including 3 years in managerial roles.
• Strong knowledge of financial accounting processes and controls (US GAAP, IFRS, PSAK).
• Knowledge of Indonesian taxation regulations and tax compliance processes.
• Experience leading finance, accounting and procurement operations and cross-functional teams.

Job description

The Finance Manager supports the Head of Finance in providing strategic and operational leadership across the School’s financial and taxation functions. The role is responsible for ensuring robust financial governance, effective financial planning, tax compliance and operational efficiency, and acts as a key point of contact for business users across the School, supporting the School’s long-term sustainability, values and strategic objectives.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Finance Management or another relevant discipline.

Minimum 8-10 years’ experience in finance and accounting, including 3 years of successful managerial and/or supervisory roles.

Strong knowledge of financial accounting processes and controls, including Indonesian and international accounting principles (US GAAP, IFRS, PSAK), corporate finance concepts and financial statements.

Strong working knowledge of Indonesian taxation regulations (including PPH 21, PPH 23, PPH 4(2), VAT/PPN as applicable), with proven ability to manage tax compliance, reporting and reconciliation processes.

Proven ability to manage a broad range of finance, accounting and procurement operations, including accounts receivable and payable, cash management, taxation, insurance, fixed assets and banking.

Strong leadership and people management capabilities, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence senior stakeholders.

Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to build and sustain effective internal and external relationships.

High level of organisational and analytical capability, with the ability to interpret financial and performance data to support strategic decision-making.

Strong governance mindset, with experience in establishing KPIs, monitoring performance and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.

Demonstrated experience leading or contributing to financial system implementation and process improvement initiatives, with the ability to evaluate system requirements and drive adoption across the finance function.

High level of computer literacy (Microsoft Office and Google Suite).

Professional certification in Finance, Accounting or Business (e.g. CFAB or equivalent).

Prior experience at a Big 4 accounting firm (e.g., Deloitte, PwC, EY, KPMG).

Experience working in the education sector, particularly within an international school environment.
