Job summary

Asia Pulp and Paper seeks an Expert AI Engineer to design, develop, and deploy AI‑driven solutions for mill operations, leveraging historical and real‑time data to boost equipment reliability and process efficiency.

You will collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to translate challenges into AI‑based solutions, implement predictive analytics on the shop floor, and ensure scalable, compliant AI systems within our manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/AI/DS/Engineering or related field.
• 5–8 years in AI/ML, data analytics or data science roles.
• Strong Python and SQL, ML and Generative AI proficiency.
• Experience with predictive analytics, computer vision, and AI deployment in manufacturing environments.
• Cloud familiarity (Azure/AWS/GCP) and data viz with Power BI.

Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance AI models for predictive maintenance and reliability using historical and real-time data.
• Implement and operate AI systems including early warning systems in production environments.
• Integrate data from PLCs, sensors, and historians for AI workflows.
• Analyze and optimize machine parameters using AI-driven insights to improve efficiency and quality.
• Monitor and improve AI model performance for long-term sustainability.
• Collaborate with production, maintenance and engineering teams to translate challenges into AI solutions.
• Create technical documentation and knowledge transfer for adoption of AI solutions.
• Implement company sustainability policies (MBOS, ISO, HSE, 6S, COC).

Job description

Expert AI Engineer role is to design, develop, and implement AI-based solutions for mill operations by leveraging historical and real-time machine data, in order to improve equipment reliability, optimize process performance, enhance product quality, and reduce operational waste through predictive analytics and data-driven decision making.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and continuously enhance Artificial Intelligence (AI) models to support predictive maintenance and improve machine reliability by utilizing historical and real-time operational data.
• Implement and ensure the effective operation of AI systems, including early warning systems, within the production environment to deliver stable, reliable, and scalable solutions.
• Manage and integrate data from various industrial sources (e.g., PLC, sensors, historians) to ensure data quality, consistency, and readiness for AI model development and analysis.
• Analyze and optimize machine operating parameters using AI-driven insights to improve process efficiency, production stability, and product quality.
• Monitor, evaluate, and continuously improve the performance of AI models and systems to ensure accuracy, effectiveness, and long-term sustainability.
• Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to translate operational challenges into AI-based solutions and support effective implementation on the shop floor.
• Develop technical documentation and conduct knowledge transfer to relevant teams to support adoption and sustainable utilization of AI solutions within mill operations.
• To implement mill / company policies related to sustainability compliance & management system (MBOS, ISO, HSE, 6S, COC, Social & Security).

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5-8 years of experience AI / Machine Learning development or Data analytics or data science roles.
• Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, Machine Learning, and Generative AI technologies.
• Experience with predictive analytics, computer vision, and AI deployment in manufacturing environments.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud) and data visualization tools such as Power BI.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skill.
• Candidates must be willing to work at PT. The Univenus Serang, Banten.

Preferred Experience

Tissue, paper, FMCG, or process manufacturing industry.

Knowledge of OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), Lean Manufacturing, and Industry 4.0.

Experience working with production, converting, packaging, and supply chain data.
