Job summary

PT Unilever Oleochemical Indonesia is seeking a Construction Safety Project Assistant Manager in North Sumatra. The role supports planning, implementation and oversight of construction safety protocols across projects, ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies.

You will collaborate with project teams, contractors and regulatory bodies to uphold a strong safety culture and prevent incidents on sites.

Qualifications

• Diploma or bachelor in OHS, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
• Minimum 8 years' experience in construction safety in manufacturing/industrial environment.
• Knowledge of Indonesian construction safety regulations, standards and best practices.
• Familiarity with hazard identification, risk assessment methodologies and safety management systems.
• Strong understanding of PPE, site safety procedures and emergency response protocols.
• Excellent communication skills in Indonesian and English, with the ability to communicate safety requirements clearly to diverse audiences.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and safety management software.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement construction safety plans, method statements and risk assessments for all project activities.
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety standards, regulations and company policies.
• Identify safety hazards and non-conformances, documenting findings and recommending corrective and preventive actions.
• Coordinate safety inductions, toolbox talks and training sessions for construction workers and contractors.
• Maintain comprehensive safety records, including incident reports, near-miss reports and safety performance metrics.
• Liaise between project management teams, contractors and regulatory authorities to ensure safety requirements are met.
• Monitor the use of PPE and ensure compliance with site-specific safety requirements.
• Support investigations into accidents, incidents and near-misses, preparing reports and implementing lessons learned.
• Contribute to development and maintenance of safety policies, procedures and documentation.
• Promote a positive safety culture through engagement, communication and collaboration with all site personnel.
