About the role
We are seeking a Construction Safety Project Assistant Manager to join our team in Simalungun, North Sumatra, on a full-time basis. This is a strategic position within our Health, Safety and Environment division, responsible for supporting the planning, implementation and oversight of construction safety protocols across our projects. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all construction activities comply with safety regulations, industry best practices and company policies. This role requires a proactive professional who can work collaboratively with project teams, contractors and stakeholders to maintain a strong safety culture and prevent incidents on our construction sites.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in developing and implementing construction safety plans, method statements and risk assessments for all project activities
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety standards, regulations and company policies
- Identify safety hazards and non-conformances, documenting findings and recommending corrective and preventive actions
- Support the coordination of safety inductions, toolbox talks and training sessions for construction workers and contractors
- Maintain comprehensive safety records, including incident reports, near-miss reports and safety performance metrics
- Liaise between project management teams, contractors and regulatory authorities to ensure safety requirements are met
- Monitor the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure compliance with site-specific safety requirements
- Support investigations into accidents, incidents and near-misses, preparing reports and implementing lessons learned
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of safety policies, procedures and documentation
- Promote a positive safety culture through engagement, communication and collaboration with all site personnel
What we’re looking for
- Diploma or bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety (OHS), Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related field
- A minimum of 8 years' experience in construction safety, ideally gained in a similar manufacturing or industrial environment
- Knowledge of Indonesian construction safety regulations, standards and best practices
- Familiarity with hazard identification, risk assessment methodologies and safety management systems
- Strong understanding of personal protective equipment (PPE), site safety procedures and emergency response protocols
- Excellent communication skills in both Indonesian and English, with the ability to communicate safety requirements clearly to diverse audiences
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and safety management software
- Strong organizational and documentation skills, with meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving abilities
- A valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various site locations as required
- Possession or willingness to obtain relevant safety certifications such as Construction Safety Supervisor or equivalent qualifications
