Unilever Oleochemical Indonesia (UOI) invites applications for a Mechanical Maintenance Assistant Manager at its North Sumatra site. You will drive maintenance excellence, oversee preventive and predictive programs, and lead teams to ensure reliable plant operation.
You will manage spare parts, coordinate with departments, and troubleshoot pumps, compressors, and rotating equipment while upholding safety and environmental standards.

We are welcoming high caliber professionals to come on board as part of our management team as Mechanical Maintenance Assistant Manager who will play a crucial role in connecting technology initiatives with business objectives, ensure that digital transformations align with organizational goals, and drive operational efficiencies. In this role that you are about to embark on, you are required to carry out the following responsibilities:
1. Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs for mechanical systems.
2. Ensure timely execution of repairs and servicing of equipment.
3. Monitor and manage spare parts inventory and procurement.
4. Lead and supervise mechanical maintenance teams.
5. Conduct performance reviews and support staff development.
6. Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth operations.
7. Troubleshoot mechanical issues in pumps, compressors, gearboxes, and rotating equipment.
8. Apply engineering principles to solve practical problems in plant operations.
9. Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations (e.g., OSHA, MSDS).
10. Assist in planning and execution of mechanical projects and upgrades.
11. Support commissioning and decommissioning of equipment.
12. Maintain accurate maintenance records and logs.
13. Analyze maintenance data to improve reliability and reduce downtime.
14. Prepare reports for senior management on equipment performance and maintenance KPIs.
15. Promote a culture of safety and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
Participate in risk assessments and incident investigations
The requirements:
1. Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
2. Minimum 7 years of experience in mechanical maintenance or engineering in a chemical or continuous process industry. (Fatty Alcohol/ Fatty Acid/ Methyl ester Plant)
3. Strong knowledge of pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, piping systems, and pressure vessels.
4. Familiarity with CMMS systems (e.g., SAP PM), reliability tools (RCM, FMEA), and industry codes (ASME, API).
5. Leadership experience with proven ability to manage teams and projects

UOI is one of the biggest Olechemical factories in the world and has been built on an area of 18 hectares, located in Special Economic Zone (KEK) Sei Mangkei, Blok M, N, R, S Huta VI District of Bosar Maligas, Simalungun, North Sumatra, Indonesia, where 30% of equipment manufacturers using domestic products, the plant is designed to process CPKO (Crude Palm Kernel Oil) and 95% of the products will be used by Unilever factories around the world.
