Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking a Mining Technology Specialist for the Grasberg Mine in Central Papua, Indonesia. This on-site role focuses on autonomous underground mining technologies, data-driven optimization, and close customer collaboration with MineStar systems.

The candidate should have a degree in Mining/Mechanical/Electrical/Mechatronics/Automation, strong field support skills, and experience with mining equipment and digital systems.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Mining, Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Automation or related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of mining technology, automation, and digital mining concepts.
• Experience with field support, troubleshooting, and customer engagement.

Responsibilities

• Serve as on-site technical expert for Caterpillar's autonomous underground mining tech.
• Support and optimize MineStar Command systems and on-board technologies.
• Monitor system performance and drive productivity improvements.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, networking, and machine comms in the field.
• Analyze data to identify trends, root causes and improvement opportunities.
• Collaborate with mine operations and technicians to reduce downtime.
• Assist installation, configuration, integration, and commissioning of MineStar hardware/software.
• Work with engineering and product teams to implement improvements.
• Develop training materials and coach customers and dealers on best practices.
• Participate in safety, productivity, and operational excellence initiatives.
