Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. seeks a Mining Technology Specialist to serve as the on-site technical expert supporting autonomous underground mining technologies at the Grasberg Mine in Central Papua, Indonesia.

You will work with MineStar Command systems to improve production, system performance, and equipment availability, collaborating with mine operations teams and Caterpillar engineers across countries.

Qualifications

• Mining industry experience in surface or underground operations.
• Knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Support and optimize MineStar Command autonomous systems and on-board technologies.
• Monitor system performance and identify opportunities to improve productivity and equipment availability.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, networking, and machine communication issues in the field.
• Analyze operational and equipment data to identify trends, root causes, and improvement opportunities.
• Work closely with mine operations personnel, controllers, supervisors, and technicians to reduce downtime and maximize system utilization.
• Support installation, configuration, integration, and commissioning of MineStar hardware and software solutions.
• Collaborate with Caterpillar engineering and product support teams to identify, document, and implement product improvements.
• Develop training materials and coaching customer and dealer personnel on best practices and system operation.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, productivity, and operational excellence.
• Manage machine and system integrations across autonomous mining equipment and site infrastructure.
