Qualifications

  • University degree in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Management or related disciplines.
  • At least 8 years of relevant supervisory experience in facilities management, fire safety or related fields.
  • Practical experience in fire safety management, fire drills, fire training, and maintaining fire safety systems.
  • Solid knowledge of fire safety legislation, codes, and standards.
  • Good communication skills and proficiency in computer software including Microsoft 365 and AutoCAD.
  • Good command of spoken and written English and Chinese.
  • Valid Construction Industry Safety Training Certificate (Green Card) or equivalent.
  • Valid Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

Technical Manager II in the Maintenance and Operations Unit of the Estates Office (Ref.: 537353)

We are seeking a dedicated candidate for the position of Technical Manager II to oversee fire safety and facilities management within our campuses. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety, compliance, and operational efficiency of all fire safety systems and procedures across the estate.

The Role

The appointee will play a pivotal role in maintaining a safe campus environment and upholding high standards of fire safety and facilities management. Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning, organizing, and conducting fire drills and fire safety training for staff and students;
  • Overseeing the maintenance, inspection, and testing of fire safety systems and equipment;
  • Ensuring compliance with fire safety legislation and internal safety policies;
  • Managing emergency preparedness initiatives and safety audits;
  • Coordinating and collaborating with internal teams, external contractors, government authorities, and various stakeholders to develop and implement fire safety policies and procedures;
  • Supporting facilities management projects with a focus on safety and compliance;
  • Responding to emergency situations as required; and
  • Preparing and managing tender documents for procurement processes.
  • A University degree in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Management or related disciplines;

  • A valid Driving Licence; and
  • Experience with corporate safety policies, stakeholder engagement, and project coordination would be an advantage.

The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years, to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.
