Job summary

Hong Kong Tourism Board is seeking a Senior Manager, Business Development, MICE to lead market analysis, strategy development and global outreach for Hong Kong as a premier MICE destination. You will drive cross‑functional collaboration with Worldwide Offices and local DMCs and hotels to convert opportunities into business wins.

The role requires a degree in business, marketing, tourism or hospitality and 10+ years in travel or MICE, including 3+ years in management, with strong English, Chinese

  • Degree in business, marketing, tourism or hospitality.
  • At least 10 years in travel, servicing, marketing or MICE, with 3+ years in a managerial role.
  • Regional experience in Asia is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Director in market analysis and formulating business strategies to grow Meetings and Incentives segments and drive annual M&I overnight arrivals.
  • Develop global marketing 1:1 and business development strategies to strengthen Hong Kong's brand as The World’s Meeting Place.
  • Identify potential industries for the M&I segment, develop targeted strategies and outreach plans, drive performance to meet BPIs/KPIs, lead cross-WWO orchestration to convert opportunities.
  • Set strategic directions and support Worldwide Offices to cultivate business leads for corporate meetings and incentive trips, drive bids to wins and ensure marketing activities achieve BPIs/KPIs.
  • Lead and orchestrate the implementation of business plans and marketing activities to achieve set objectives efficiently.
  • Engage and mobilize DMCs and hotels to submit applications under the Small-sized MICE Group Schemes, converting leads and achieving KPIs.
  • Establish and foster relationships with travel industry partners and major stakeholders.
  • Undertake other duties as directed by the Director.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AND LEARN?

  • Support the Director in market analysis and formulating business strategies to grow Meetings and Incentives segments, reinforce Hong Kong’s position as the preferred MICE destinations, and to drive the annual M&I overnight arrivals.
  • Develop global marketing 1:1 and business development strategies to strengthen Hong Kong's brand as “The World’s Meeting Place”.
  • Identify potential industries for the M&I segment, develop targeted business strategies and outreach plans, drive performance to achieve established BPIs/KPIs, lead cross-WWO orchestration to convert large-scale opportunities, and initiate programs to develop and/or expand emerging M&I markets.
  • Set strategic directions and support Worldwide Offices (WWOs) to cultivate business leads for corporate meetings and incentive trips, drive bids conversion to wins and ensure that marketing activities are executed effectively and achieve the desired BPIs/KPIs result.
  • Lead and orchestrate the implementation of business plans and marketing activities to achieve the set objectives at maximum efficiency.
  • Engage and mobilize DMCs and hotels to submit applications under the Small-sized MICE Group Schemes, converting business leads and achieving the desired KPIs.
  • Establish and foster good relationships with travel industry partners and major stakeholders.
  • Undertake any other duties/special assignments as directed by the Director.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • Degree in preferably Business Administration, Marketing, Tourism or Hospitality.
  • Preferably at least 10 years of work experience in the travel, servicing, marketing or MICE industry, or with a National Tourist Office, or Convention & Visitor Bureau, including a minimum of 3 years in a managerial position, and possessing strong knowledge of wider economic and industry developments in the region.
  • Regional experience in Asia is an advantage.
  • Sensitive to public affairs and protocol.
  • Demonstrated history in leading effective teams to achieve meaningful performance in a fast-paced, highly pressurised environment.
  • Strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen, sensitivity in the broader business and cultural context.
  • Highly organised and skilled in project management, able to solve or recommend solutions to complex problems with structured approach and data-led insights.
  • Excellent presentation, communication and stakeholder management skills; able to influence others with finesse, internally and externally, for positive results.
  • Excellent written and spoken English, Chinese and including Putonghua.
