Job summary

OOCL is seeking a Senior Legal Officer with strong business acumen and excellent legal and research skills to join our Legal Team in Hong Kong.

You will negotiate, review and advise on transactions and IT initiatives across the Group, provide pragmatic legal guidance to stakeholders worldwide, manage litigation, and coordinate with external counsel when needed, ensuring timely, compliant guidance under tight timelines.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years post-qualification experience (HK or common law jurisdictions) gained in a major law firm and/or in-house.
• Knowledge in two or more areas: corporate & commercial, mergers & acquisitions, IP/IT, regulatory & compliance, litigation & dispute resolution.
• Ability to draft in plain English and Chinese; fluency in Putonghua is essential.
• Innovative, proactive, with the ability to work independently under tight timelines and pressure.

Job description

In line with the dynamic growth of the Group, we are recruiting a Senior Legal Officer with strong business acumen and excellent legal and research skills to join our Legal Team.

Responsibilities:

Negotiating, reviewing and advising on transactions and arrangements in respect of the Group’s various businesses, projects, digitalization and IT initiatives in the transportation and logistics arena.

Providing pragmatic legal advice to Group’s stakeholders worldwide; analyzing and addressing legal risks, providing legal support and training, developing and updating legal templates, and handling ad-hoc tasks and responsibilities.

Managing and coordinating litigation/arbitration, together with external counsel if required.

You must have:

At least 2 years of post-qualification experience (Hong Kong or common law jurisdictions qualified) gained in a major law firm and/or in-house. Candidate with less PQE but with relevant experience may also be considered for junior position.

Solid knowledge and experience in at least two of the following areas: corporate and commercial, mergers and acquisitions, IP/IT, regulatory and compliance, litigation and dispute resolution. Prior experience in shipping or logistics is preferred but not a must.

Ability to draft in plain English and Chinese. Fluency in Putonghua is essential.
