Job summary

The Hong Kong and China Gas Co Ltd is seeking a Financial Accounting Leader to provide oversight of financial accounting and compliance with HKFRS. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of accounting experience, strong leadership capabilities, and excellent communication skills in English, Cantonese, and Putonghua.

The role includes direct engagement with stakeholders, managing statutory reporting, and driving digital transformation initiatives within the financial operations.

Job description

Provide leadership and oversight of the financial accounting and group reporting functions for a large-cap listed group

Oversee compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, including HKFRS and the Listing Rules, and ensure appropriate governance standards are maintained

Direct the review and delivery of statutory reporting materials, including announcements, interim reports and annual reports

Lead engagement with external stakeholders, including auditors, valuers and other professional advisers, on key reporting and compliance matters

Oversee management reporting and financial analysis to provide senior management with timely insights for strategic and commercial decision-making

Assess internal control effectiveness and promote consistent adherence to Group policies, procedures and governance requirements

Provide senior-level accounting and technical advisory support on operations and M&A projects to facilitate informed management decisions

Champion digital transformation initiatives to strengthen reporting productivity, process effectiveness and system capability

Lead the revamp of key accounting and financial consolidation systems

Lead, coach and develop accounting staff, fostering a high-performance culture built on accuracy, accountability, continuous improvement and professional development

Undertake ad hoc assignments as required by senior management

The Person

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline, together with a recognized professional accounting qualification

At least 10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, preferably gained in sizable or listed companies; experience with a Big Four accounting firm would be an advantage

Experience in M&A transactions, fund-raising exercises or corporate restructuring would be an advantage

Strong judgment and execution capability in managing competing priorities, critical deadlines and complex deliverables while maintaining high standards of accuracy and quality

Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to provide clear financial insights and influence outcomes across different levels of the organization

Strong leadership capability with demonstrated experience in managing, coaching and developing professional teams

Excellent command of written and spoken English, Cantonese and Putonghua
