Job summary

Hong Kong Red Cross seeks a strategic leader to head Youth Development Service at Head Office (West Kowloon). You will formulate strategic direction, lead a team of volunteers, and work with senior management to deliver humanitarian services and nurture youth leadership.

  • Coach and supervise volunteer leaders to design service plans and training for youth.
  • Oversee project implementation for university students and youth activities from Head Office.
  • Develop humanitarian education programs to cultivate Red Cross knowledge among youth.
  • Build relationships with youth groups, schools and NGOs for collaboration.

Job description

Job Purpose:

The core purpose of this role is to provide leadership for Red Cross youth in Youth Development Service. S/he works closely with the Senior Manager/Head of Youth Development Service to lead development and execution of Red Cross youth team to support the HKRC in delivering its humanitarian services to fulfill its vision and mission. S/he will ensure effective implementation of the strategies and drive implementation and action to engage the new generation to participate in the Red Cross movement, so as to expand the extent to cultivate the Red Cross humanitarian value and nurture to be the leaders of Red Cross movement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Formulate the strategic direction and plan in youth development by providing situational analysis and proposing recommendations at division level, in line with the corporate strategic direction, together with the Senior Manager/Head of Youth Development Service
  • Lead the development, execution and enhancement on youth services with team colleagues and volunteers
  • Lead and coach a team of volunteer leaders to formulate service plans and develop training plans for volunteers and young people which are in line with the goal of Youth Development Service
  • Supervise and monitor the implementation of projects and activities for university students in Head Office
  • Develop humanitarian education programs and activities to cultivate the Red Cross humanitarian knowledge and awareness to young people
  • Develop relationships and network with external stakeholders, such as youth uniformed groups, schools and NGOs for collaboration and support in youth services
Requirements:
  • Registered social worker with recognized Bachelor’s degree in social work, minimum 5 years’ post-graduation and related working experience in youth and volunteer service development in which have at least 2 years’ managerial experience; or,
  • Bachelor’s degree in non-social work discipline, with minimum 7 years’ post-graduation and related working experience in youth and volunteer service development in which have at least 2 years’ managerial experience
  • Strategic minded with vision, strong people management, interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Good communication skills with stakeholders and community partners
  • Good command of both written and oral English and Chinese/ Cantonese/ Putonghua
  • Candidates with less experience will be considered for Deputy Manager (Youth Development Service)
