Job summary

The Independent Schools Foundation Academy (The ISF Academy) is seeking a Library Assistant – Secondary to support circulation, cataloging, and student/teacher assistance in a busy school library in Hong Kong.

Requirements include a Certificate of Library Assistant, fluency in English and Chinese, and the ability to work independently with strong organizational skills. Fresh graduates are welcome; experience in a school library is a plus.

Qualifications

• Holder of the Certificate of Library Assistant (or equivalent).
• Fresh graduates would also be considered.
• Good knowledge of Chinese and English word processing, library information systems and other office software applications, e.g. Publisher.
• Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin).

Responsibilities

• Performs circulation duties such as check-in and check-out of library/ Resource Room materials, registering users and updating user information.
• Assists students and staff in the use of online catalog or databases.
• Performs a variety of clerical and computer-related tasks as assigned.
• Maintains the library as a welcoming and peaceful learning place.

Library Assistant – Secondary (Ref: SEC/LA/20260930_jdb)

We are now seeking a self-driven, passionate and experienced candidate to fill the following position:

Job Responsibilities:

• Performs circulation duties such as check-in and check-out of library/ Resource Room materials, registering users and updating user information;
• Assists students and staff in the use of online catalog or databases;
• Performs a variety of clerical and computer-related tasks as assigned;
• Prepares circulation desk for services on a daily basis;
• Shelving, straightening and shelf reading of library materials;
• Assists in accessing and processing print and non-print materials for circulation;
• Assists in cataloging and maintenance of bibliographic records;
• Handles overdue and reservations;
• Keep tracks with the payment for lost or damaged materials;
• Assists in set-up of displays and signage;
• Receives and deals with initial information requests;
• Help to co-ordinate with parent volunteers with miscellaneous tasks;
• Develops job-related abilities, skills and knowledge;
• Help to maintain the library as a welcoming and peaceful learning place;
• Assists in the community programs related to library activities;
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Teacher Librarians, Principal, School Heads or any designee.

Requirements:

• Holder of the Certificate of Library Assistant (or equivalent);
• Fresh graduates would also be considered
• Work experience in a school library environment would be a plus;
• Good knowledge of Chinese and English word processing, library information systems and other office software applications, e.g. Publisher;
• Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin);
• Able to work independently, effective organizational and interpersonal skills; and
• Provides exemplary customer service in Library at all times.
