Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to support on-premises data centre infrastructure, including Linux, Kafka, MQ, and middleware integration. The role involves collaboration with global teams, vendor management, and contributing to OS provisioning and server builds.

The ideal candidate has hands-on Linux/Unix experience, virtualization skills (VMware, KVM, OpenShift) and basic Docker/container knowledge, with Cantonese and English language abilities.

Qualifications

Our client is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to support our on‑premises data centre infrastructure setup, including Linux, systems deployment (Kafka, MQ), and Database. Strong vendor management skills and a structured problem‑solving mindset (ITIL) are critical to success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain Linux/Unix operating systems across on‑premises data centre infrastructure.
• Work closely with vendors and global/regional teams to ensure seamless infrastructure setup and operational stability.
• Follow structured problem‑solving and incident management processes (Example- ITIL framework) to resolve infrastructure and middleware issues.
• Manage and maintain virtualisation environments (VMware, KVM, OpenShift) and support containerisation initiatives (Docker).
• Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and security teams to deliver reliable and scalable on‑prem solutions.
• Contribute to infrastructure projects including OS provisioning, server build, patching, and middleware integration.

Key Requirements

Mandatory

• Experience: Solid experience in infrastructure engineering with a focus on on‑premises data centre environments.
• Linux/Unix Administration: Strong hands‑on skills with Linux/Unix (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.)
• Vendor Collaboration: Proven ability to work with external vendors and cross‑functional global teams.
• Middleware Knowledge: Working knowledge of Kafka and MQ (terminologies, concepts, installation, and configuration – deep expertise not required).
• Virtualisation: Experience with VMware, KVM, or OpenShift (or similar virtualisation platforms).
• Containers: Basic understanding of Docker or containerisation concepts.
• Databases: Some exposure to database concepts (understanding, not necessarily deep DBA skills).
