Job summary

Hong Kong College of Technology in Hong Kong (Ma On Shan) invites applications for Head of Division in Languages and General Studies. The role leads the division, provides academic leadership, and drives strategic planning to support sustainability and quality across programmes.

The successful candidate will oversee teaching quality, curriculum development, programme accreditation, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a related discipline from a recognized tertiary institution.
• 8 years’ working experience, with at least 4 years in relevant areas such as programme management and external accreditation.
• Experience in managing Diploma of Applied Education programmes preferred.
• Strong leadership and people-management skills with agility and resilience in a changing environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English and Chinese.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Division providing academic leadership in Languages and General Studies programmes.
• Provide strategic planning and develop resource deployment strategies to support the operation and long-term sustainability of the discipline.
• Steer and supervise the academic team for teaching quality, curriculum development and programme quality assurance.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to contribute for Division-wide and institutional initiatives.
• Explore and forge the academic and professional networks for programme development and discipline advancement.
• Undertake teaching duties and supervise student projects where necessary.
• Perform other duties assigned by supervisors.

Responsibilities:

• To lead the Division in providing academic leadership in Languages and General Studies programmes
• To provide strategic planning and develop resource deployment strategies to support the effective operation and long‑term sustainability of the discipline, in alignment with the Institution’s mission and objectives
• To steer and supervise the academic team for quality teaching, curriculum development and programme quality assurance
• To liaise with internal and external stakeholders to contribute for Division-wide and institutional initiatives
• To explore and forge the academic and professional networks for programme development and discipline advancement
• To undertake teaching duties and supervise student projects where necessary
• To perform other duties assigned by supervisors

Requirements:

• Applicants should possess a Master’s degree in a related discipline from a recognized tertiary institution
• At least 8 years’ working experience, of which 4 years’ relevant experience and, preferably with experience in programme management and external accreditation
• Hands‑on experience in the management of Diploma of Applied Education programmes is preferred
• Demonstrable strong leadership and people‑management skills, with agility and resilience in an ever‑changing environment
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and proficient in written and spoken English and Chinese
• Candidates with less experience will be considered as Associate Head of Division
