Job summary

Cathay Pacific is seeking an Assistant Manager in Distribution Channel Optimisation in Hong Kong. You will drive distribution channel performance, manage partnerships, and control costs to maximise returns on distribution investments.

You will lead a team, collaborate with commercial, technology and operations, and implement frameworks to evaluate distribution costs and track performance. The role requires strong negotiation skills and knowledge of GDS and NDC.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of airline distribution management experience, including contracts and cost management.
• Strong background in distribution dynamics is preferred.
• Excellent analytical, communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to represent Cathay to negotiate with distribution partners (e.g. GDS and third‑party aggregators).
• Solid understanding of the new distribution capability (NDC) development and its implications on GDS contracts.
• Good understanding of other distribution costs such as shopping and booking.
• Experience working in cross-functional and matrix environments with commercial, technology, and operations teams.
• Commercial mindset with strong business judgement and focus on financial impact.

Responsibilities

• Manage strategic distribution vendors’ relationships and partnerships, including GDSs, IT vendors and metasearch partners.
• Improve cost control monitoring systems to reduce unproductive shopping activity and improve channel performance.
• Review and manage distribution contracts to secure favorable terms and flexibilities.
• Manage distribution cost accounts to meet targets and realize channel‑shift savings.
• Collaborate across functions to develop frameworks to evaluate distribution costs and track performance.
• Lead, support, coach, and inspire the team to deliver commercial and strategic success.
• Supervise and mentor direct reports, promoting cross‑functional collaboration and accountability.
• Uphold Cathay’s core values and model excellence in execution and behaviour.
• Maintain ongoing dialogue with team about goals, performance, and growth plans; engage employees to align with priorities.
• Perform other duties as required to support team development.
