Job summary

PCCW GLOBAL Limited in Hong Kong seeks an senior engineering leader to drive design, planning and implementation of global transmission optical networks and video/ethernet services. You will lead a team, manage vendors, and coordinate with Product and Pre-sales on opportunities.

The role requires 10+ years in data centers or telecom operators, deep knowledge of Ethernet, DWDM/OTN/SDH, and experience with Agile/SAFe practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, Information Technology or related discipline.
• 10+ years’ experience in Data Centre, telecom operators, or vendors.
• Strong knowledge of Ethernet, DWDM, OTN, SDH, MPLS-TP and related protocols.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering design, planning and implementation for global transmission optical infrastructure and video/ethernet service networks.
• Participate in RFPs, evaluate new technologies and vendor products for cost-efficient solutions.
• Interface with Product and Pre-sales to capture new opportunities and requirements.
• Manage contractors to install, commission, test and implement network equipment and overseas POPs.
• Support NOC for tier 2 trouble shooting and backbone system restoration activities.
• Drive Agile and SAFe transformation for improved efficiency and deliverables.
• Prepare and manage CAPEX/OPEX budgets for transmission platforms and vendors.
• Provide technical consultancy to other departments and produce project documentation.

Job description

• Lead a team for the functions of engineering design, planning and implementation for the company’s global transmission optical infrastructure and video/ethernet service networks.
• Participate in RFP process of technical requirements, evaluate and develop new technological advancement and vendors’ products for optimal cost efficiency solutions to enhance and sustain business competitiveness;
• Interface with Product and Pre-sales teams for capturing new business opportunities and requirements on transmission infrastructures and service developments;
• Manage contractors to install, commission, test and implement network equipment, overseas POP build and service rollout;
• Support NOC for tier 2 trouble-shooting, ad-hoc subsea cable or backbone system restoration activities;
• Drive the team in Agile and SAFe framework transformation for improved efficiency and deliverables;
• Prepare and manage the CAPEX and OPEX budgets on transmission platforms, and ensure the quality supply chains and vendor relationships;
• Provide technical consultancy and support to other departments for advanced customer solutions and value-added service needs;
• Produce and update engineering, planning, operations and project documents.

Role Requirements

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Electronics, Telecommunications, Information Technology, or related disciplines.
• 10+ year working experience with Data Centre / Telecom Operators / Vendors etc. is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge and working experience in Ethernet and Transmission network and services including DWDM, OTN, SDH, MPLS-TP, Ethernet Technologies and protocols.
• Knowledge and working experience in video transmission equipment platforms will be an advantage.
• Experience in managing vendors in solutions/prices negotiation and tendering process.
