Responsibilities include:

1. Conducting specialist assessments for children of pre-school and school age, analyzing understanding and use of vocabulary, speech sounds, grammar, voice, social language use, non-verbal communication, carer-child interaction, and play skills.
2. Providing recommendations for the multi-disciplinary team regarding differential diagnoses, aligned with NICE guidelines for children suspected of autism spectrum condition.
3. Collaborating with the Clinical Lead for autism assessment pathways, coordinating multi-disciplinary meetings, and chairing them in their absence.
4. Writing and sharing clinical reports based on assessment findings, including ongoing speech & language needs.
5. Advising team members and professionals on the ongoing care of caseload children and contributing to statutory processes as needed.
6. Managing time effectively to meet objectives.
7. Supporting assessment and support for children with feeding difficulties within the Speech & Language team.
8. Maintaining clear, concise clinical records in line with trust policies.
9. Upholding high standards of professional and clinical practice.
10. Maintaining HCPC registration.
11. Recognizing professional boundaries and seeking advice or training when necessary.
12. Being proactive and innovative, encouraging this in others.
13. Respecting cultural differences and ensuring service accessibility for all children.
14. Participating actively in service meetings.
15. Adhering to trust and local policies, implementing relevant national policies.
16. Contributing to service evaluation and development through clinical governance.
17. Providing clinical activity data and routine CPD records, observing data protection.
18. Developing expertise in speech, language, and communication difficulties through collaboration, training, and self-study.
19. Encouraging user involvement in service evaluation.
20. Offering advice and training to multi-agency colleagues on ASD.
21. Participating in research and clinical audits as directed.
22. Participating in child safeguarding procedures as necessary.
