Educational Mental Health Practitioner

Due to a recent expansion of theWellbeing & Emotional Support Teams (WEST), Herefordshire team we are nowseeking a qualified EMHP to join our fantastic team.

The WEST team are a forward thinking,supportive & hardworking team that is continuously developing asindividuals and a service. We provide high quality, evidence-based CBT interventionsto Children & Young People in Schools and focus on a Whole School Approachto make the schools we work with a mentally healthy environment for CYP.

We will provide you withresources to develop & progress should this be something you wish to do, aswell as flexibility and a wealth of support, making the WEST environment a greatplace to work. If you would like to discuss this role further, please get intouch with the Recruiting Manager.

This is a part time role working 30 hours per week.

Main duties of the job

We are a busy team,covering 49 schools and colleges in Herefordshire.You will be delivering low intensity CBT interventions (1:1 or group) in youraligned schools as well as delivering Whole School Approach activities, keepingthe CYP at the heart of everything you do.

Under the support ofoperational lead, clinical lead & senior practitioners you will manage acaseload of patients and complete assessments, care plans & other relevantdocumentation whilst maintaining the fidelity of the low intensity CBT model.

An understanding ofrisk management & safeguarding is imperative for this role, and you will besupported with managing this within the team.

You will also receiveregular case management & clinical skills supervision to support youclinically as well as participate in MDT/screening meetings.

You will work closelywith families, school staff & other professions and at times deliverconsultations & signposting advice to other agencies. Thus, stronginterpersonal skills are key.

Person Specification
Experience
  • Experience of working with children and young people, their families and others.
  • Experience of working and liaising with a wide variety of agencies and stakeholders
  • Experience of working with children and young people who have social, emotional and/or behavioural difficulties
  • Experience of working with anxiety disorders
  • Experience of working with affective (mood) disorders
  • Experience of the delivery of specific therapeutic interventions to children, young people or their families (e.g. CBT, solution focused brief therapy)
  • 12-month minimum post registration experience in child health or mental health care.
  • Experience of working with children and families is an educational setting.
  • Working in a Multi-disciplinary team.
  • Working within a community/public health team
Knowledge
  • Working knowledge of health services
  • Working knowledge of mental health issues in CAMH Services
  • Knowledge of safeguarding & risk issues
  • Knowledge of capacity and consent including Gillick competence
  • Experience in the delivery of evidence-based and CBT interventions for children and adolescents.
  • Good knowledge of recognised disorders and illnesses in the field of mental health
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act
Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English in both verbal and written formats

  • Able to drive with a full driving licence and have access to vehicle to meet the travel requirements
Qualifications

  • I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.
