In accordance with section 88(3) of the Environment (Wales) Act 2016, Welsh Ministers commenced section 81(1) of the 2016 Act which established a Flood and Coastal Erosion Committee. The Committee exercises a wider advisory role covering all flood and coastal risk management in Wales.
The Committee provides a mechanism for effective two way communication with the flood and coastal erosion risk management sector in Wales. The Committee has links with all relevant organisations and the ability to gain data, knowledge and intelligence from all levels of operation and process this into effective advice for Welsh Ministers. In addition, the Committee has the role of effectively disseminating strategic direction for the flood and coastal erosion risk management sector in Wales.
The chief responsibility of the Chair is to lead the Committee and meet the Committee’s overall responsibilities to provide advice to the Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change and Rural Affairs.
In order to motivate, lead and inspire others to apply their skills to maximum effect you will need knowledge and experience of flood and coastal erosion risk management at a national and international level, and Wales in particular.
