Role: Senior Bookkeeper
Location: Brighton (with occasional travel to other branches)
Hours: Full time or Part time with minimum 25 hours per week across Monday - Friday (8:30am - 5:00pm)
Pay: 28,000 - 40,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to join one of our longstanding clients, a fast growing firm in Brighton. This role is permanent and can be either full time or part time to suit your needs, with a minimum of 25 hours a week.

The Requirements:

• Over 5 years of hands-on bookkeeping experience with a strong, well-rounded knowledge base
• Solid understanding of VAT and its application across various client scenarios
• Proficient in using cloud-based bookkeeping software, including platforms such as Xero, QuickBooks, FreeAgent, and ClearBooks
• Previous experience working within an accountancy practice preferred
• Excellent customer service skills with a client-focused approach
• Strong ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet strict deadlines
• High attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all financial records
• A proactive and collaborative team member

The Role:

• Responsible for bookkeeping duties across a range of clients, using various software platforms including Xero, QuickBooks, FreeAgent, and ClearBooks
• Provided support to clients with bookkeeping and software-related queries
• Maintained regular communication with clients to ensure records were complete and VAT Returns submitted within deadline
• Managed preparation and submission of VAT Returns
• Performed bookkeeping to trial balance, including bank reconciliations, prepayments, and accruals
• Prepared relevant schedules and reports as required
• Completed and filed VAT and CIS Returns
• Ensured all client work was delivered within agreed timescales
