Location: Mansfield, NG17 1JF (Onsite)

Appointment Basis: Permanent

Salary: c.£30K + Benefits

At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, more than 80 000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.

Could you be the full-time Test Technician based in Mansfield we’re looking for?

Your future role

Take on a key role in delivering high-quality electronic testing at Alstom. You’ll work closely with the Manufacturing Team to ensure you test not only the products, but the sub level PCBs with the ability to use the test gear that comes with it such as oscilloscopes, frequency generators, meters, computers and programmers. You will also be expected to be able to read circuit diagrams and hopefully fault find PCBs down to component level. Your efforts will help drive continuous improvement and maintain excellent right-first-time performance across the production schedule.

We’ll look to you to:
  • Assemble and test electronic equipment accurately and on time, following build specifications and quality standards
  • Complete tasks within standard build times, while maintaining precision and high-quality workmanship
  • Support and collaborate positively with your team members, fostering a productive and safe working environment
  • Adhere strictly to UK Health and Safety regulations and ALSTOM’s safe working practices
  • Comply with ALSTOM Electronics’ quality standards, factory rules, and HR policies
  • Consistently meet key performance indicators (KPIs) including right-first-time (RFT), efficiency, cost, and service levels
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support ongoing process development
  • Meet deadlines and performance targets set by the Assembly Team Leader
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships across the assembly team and Manufacturing functions
  • Promptly report any Health and Safety concerns or near misses to the Assembly Team Leader
Performance Standards
  • High-quality, efficient and safe assembly and engineering work.
  • Strong fault-finding, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Consistent focus on customer satisfaction and continuous improvement.
  • Key performance targets:
  • Zero LTAs (Lost Time Accidents)
  • Right First Time (RFT): >95%
  • Efficiency: >90%
  • On-time Delivery: >95%
All about you

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to tick every box. Instead, we’ve listed some traits and skills that will help you thrive in this role:

  • Experience in electronics assembly or engineering ideally educated to HNC level or equivalent within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of electronic assembly techniques and best engineering practices
  • Proven track record working to high-quality standards and Health & Safety regulations
  • A self-motivated, logical thinker who approaches work with discipline and innovation
  • Confident communicator, able to work effectively within a team and across functions
  • A proactive problem solver who’s eager to contribute to a high-performance team culture

All qualified applicants are considered for employment without regard to race, colour, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, national origin, disability status, or any other characteristic protected by local law.
