The Role:

So, what will you be doing as a Systems Project Engineering Lead?

1. Lead and manage the engineering team to successfully deliver project milestones, ensuring high-quality results within agreed timelines and budget constraints.
2. Oversee and manage work packages, ensuring that all activities are aligned with project requirements and objectives.
3. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure clear communication, managing dependencies, risks, and opportunities effectively.
4. Develop and manage engineering plans, ensuring all assumptions, risks, and opportunities are identified, communicated, and actively managed.
5. Provide leadership across the full project lifecycle, from requirements elicitation through to production.
6. Manage configuration and change control throughout the engineering process.
7. Ensure compliance with all engineering standards, methodologies, and best practices.

What are we looking for in our next Systems Project Engineering Lead?

1. Strong experience managing complex engineering projects, with a proven track record in work package management.
2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building strong relationships within the team and with stakeholders.
3. Prior experience working on defence projects.
4. Proven ability to manage engineering teams through the development phase of a project, including requirements elicitation, design, testing, and production.
5. Skilled in engineering estimation and production of engineering plans.
6. Familiarity with the different design gates a project goes through, from bid to production readiness review.
7. Solid understanding of configuration management and change management processes.
8. A background in systems engineering, with knowledge across electrical, mechanical, and software engineering disciplines.
9. Experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams in the defence sector.
10. A relevant engineering degree or equivalent qualifications.
11. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
