We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated Registered Nurses to join our Community Nursing Team.

Community nursing is located across multiple sites in the borough of St Helens. We provide treatment, support and guidance for a wide range of health issues within patients own homes.

An Enhanced DBS Certificate, with checking of both Children’s and Adults’ Barred Lists is required for this post.

• Establish, maintain and develop professional working relationships with colleagues.
• Follow all agreed Quality Assurance Mechanisms and contribute to the development of a quality service.
• Adhere to policies and procedures including standing financial instructions and orders.
• Participate in the Trust's Development Review Appraisal process and, with line management, set objectives and development plans.
• Ensure health and safety of patients, staff and visitors complying with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
• Promote equality, diversity and inclusion complying with the Trust’s Equal Opportunities Policy.
• Adapt to the changing nature of the Trust with a flexible and proactive approach.
• Contribute to health promotion strategies internally and externally.
• Understand safeguarding policies for children, young people, vulnerable adults and support the welfare of these groups.
• Comply with Infection Control Policies and attend mandatory training on infection prevention and control.
• Adhere to relevant professional codes of practice and prescribe responsibly as a non‑medical prescriber.
• Utilise advanced clinical skills to analyse and interpret patient history, present symptoms and physical findings for diagnosis, planning and treatment.
• Implement nursing care plans with accurate observations and report them back to Team Leader.
• Apply research and post‑registration training in care delivery; develop competency in wound care.
• Administer drugs in line with Trust policies and NMC Guidelines for Medicines Act 1992 and Misuse of Drugs Act 1991.
• Maintain accurate patient records in accordance with Trust procedures.
• Support the development of junior staff through clinical supervision and mentoring.
• Attend mandatory training, including Safeguarding training.
• Commit to personal continuing education.
• Participate in research and audit programmes; assist in Department Audit Programme.
• Preceptor or mentor new staff and pre‑registration nurses to facilitate competency achievement.

Acute Care
Providing emergency and maternity services at Whiston, Southport and Ormskirk hospitals, and medical and surgical specialties across all our sites.

Primary Care
Providing primary care services at Marshalls Cross Medical Centre in St Helens Hospital.

Community Services
Providing adult community services for St Helens and a wheelchair service in Chorley, South Ribble and West Lancashire. Inpatient unit at Newton Community Hospital continues rehabilitation for patients needing acute hospital beds. Urgent care at our Urgent Treatment Centre in St Helens town centre.

Specialist Regional Services
Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.

• 1st Level Registered Nurse (degree or diploma)
• Current NMC Registration
• Evidence of continuing professional development

• Knowledge of NMC professional standards for practice contained within the code
