A prominent children's healthcare provider in Birmingham seeks a Clinical Fellow in Haematology, Stem Cell Transplant and Oncology. This role offers training and clinical experience at middle grade level in a leading paediatric centre. Ideal candidates will have completed MRCPCH and possess at least 2 years in Paediatric Medicine. This is a post created for an enthusiastic and highly able Paediatric Haematology‑Oncology trainee to gain clinical experience in Haematology, Stem cell transplant and Oncology specialties at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, at middle grade level. The postholder will work at middle grade level in the departments of oncology, stem cell transplant and clinical haematology.
The postholder will be able to gain valuable experience in managing children with solid tumours, CNS tumours, leukaemias, stem cell transplants and non‑malignant haematological conditions including haemoglobinopathies and bleeding disorders. There will be opportunities for research and audit and to develop specific interests. Full participation in the postgraduate activity of the hospital is encouraged and the postholder will receive the same entitlement to leave and study leave as ST3+. It provides an ideal opportunity for additional training in haematology, transplantation and oncology in one of the largest Principal Treatment Centres in the UK. It is particularly suitable for trainees post MRCPCH (or equivalent) who wish to gain further experience in a large UK paediatric haematology / oncology centre or develop an area of interest, prior to a career in either paediatric haematology or paediatric oncology in their home country.
This post offers comprehensive training in paediatric haematology‑oncology and stem cell transplant. We aspire to develop the next generation of leading clinical and academic paediatric Oncologists/Haematologists.
We are one of the largest haematology‑oncology‑BMT units in the UK and trainees will learn to investigate and manage a wide range of common and rare conditions. The appointees will be expected to rotate through inpatient and outpatient oncology, neuro‑oncology, malignant and benign haematology (haemophilia and haemoglobinopathy), and stem cell transplant. These rotations are distinct firms to allow the trainee to be immersed in the subspecialty areas and gain in‑depth exposure to the case load. Training will be provided as required for the postholder who will be expected to perform the following duties on a regular basis:
