Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is partnering with an all-through school in Corby to appoint a dedicated Youth Mentor from September 2026. This full-time role covers both primary and secondary phases, EYFS to KS4, supporting pupils facing social, emotional, behavioural, or mental health challenges.

You will work within the pastoral, inclusion, and wellbeing team to provide mentoring, promote wellbeing, and help learners engage with education while building strong relationships with staff and families.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people in education, youth work, mentoring, or similar.
• Experience supporting SEMH, behavioural, emotional, or additional needs.
• Able to maintain professional boundaries and safeguarding awareness.

Responsibilities

• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils across EYFS to Key Stage 4.
• Provide one-to-one and small-group mentoring for pupils needing pastoral or emotional support.
• Support SEMH needs, anxiety, emotional regulation, and low self-esteem.
• Promote confidence, resilience, and positive relationships in learners.
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, safeguarding staff, and families.
• Monitor pupil engagement, wellbeing, behaviour, and progress.

Salary: £93 - £98 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications)

We are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive all-through school in Corby that is seeking to appoint a dedicated Youth Mentor from September 2026. This is a full-time opportunity supporting pupils across both the primary and secondary phases, from EYFS through to Key Stage4.

Working as part of the school's pastoral, inclusion, and wider support team, you will play an important role in helping pupils who may be experiencing social, emotional, behavioural, or mental health challenges. You will provide consistent support, encouragement, and guidance to help pupils engage positively with education and develop the skills they need to succeed.

The Role

• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils across EYFS to Key Stage4
• Provide one-to-one and small-group mentoring for pupils requiring additional pastoral, emotional, or behavioural support
• Support pupils with SEMH needs, anxiety, emotional regulation, low self-esteem, and other barriers to learning
• Help pupils develop confidence, resilience, independence, and positive relationships
• Deliver or support targeted mentoring activities focused on emotional wellbeing, self-esteem, communication, and positive behaviour
• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral leaders, safeguarding staff, and families to implement appropriate support strategies
• Encourage pupils to engage positively with learning, school life, and their peers
• Respond calmly and consistently to challenging behaviour or difficult situations
• Monitor pupil engagement, wellbeing, behaviour, and progress, reporting concerns where appropriate
• Promote an inclusive and supportive environment where every pupil feels valued and able to succeed

We're Looking For Someone Who

• Has experience working with children or young people in education, youth work, mentoring, coaching, care, residential settings, or a similar environment
• Has experience supporting young people with SEMH, behavioural, emotional, or additional needs
• Is calm, patient, compassionate, and resilient
• Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Can establish appropriate professional boundaries while developing trusting relationships with pupils
• Understands the importance of safeguarding and child protection
• Can adapt their approach when working with pupils across different ages and developmental stages
• Is passionate about inclusion, wellbeing, and helping young people overcome barriers to education
• Can work effectively as part of a wider pastoral and school support team
