Job summary

A local housing support organization in Northern Ireland is seeking Youth Housing Workers (Bank) to support young people transitioning to independent living. The role involves providing holistic support, establishing positive relationships, and helping young individuals maintain their tenancy. Ideally, candidates will have experience in a caring role and possess a health & social care qualification. This position offers various shifts and encourages applications from those who are committed to supporting vulnerable populations.

Qualifications

  • 3 months' paid experience or 6 months voluntary experience of supporting people in a caring role.
  • Ability to practice in line with MACS ethos and values.
  • Experience of working in a supported housing or residential environment.

Responsibilities

  • Establish positive relationships with young people to create a safe home environment.
  • Provide holistic support to all young people accessing the service.
  • Work alongside Housing team for practical support.
  • Assist young people in transitioning to independent living.
  • Ensure young people can maintain their tenancy.
  • Provide opportunities for skill development.

NOW RECRUITING YOUTH HOUSING WORKERS (BANK)(Casual Support Staff in MACS Housing Services for Young People)Do you have 3 months’ paid work experience or 6 months’ voluntary work experience supporting people in a caring role?Belfast, Downpatrick, Lisburn and Newry Supported Housing Services provide housing for young people who are homeless or leaving care to make the transition to independent living and their own tenancy.Youth Housing Workers (Bank) provide shift cover, as an accessible point of contact on night shifts and weekends. Responsibilities
  • To establish a positive relationship with Young People and to support them to create a safe home environment.
  • To provide holistic support (on a one to one and group basis) to all young people accessing the service, ensuring the support meets their needs.

  • To help ensure that the young people are able to maintain their tenancy while assisting them to develop the confidence and skills required to live independently.
  • To ensure a coordinated approach is adapted whereby young people are provided with opportunities to develop skills and knowledge and work as part of a team to carry out day to day tasks in order to help the young people reach their desired goals.
Skills and Qualifications
  • 3 months' paid experience or 6 months voluntary experience of supporting people in a caring role as an employee, volunteer or carer.
  • Understanding and knowledge of homelessness, mental health and substance use.
  • Ability to practice in line with MACS ethos and values.
  • A full, current driving license with access to a car, insured for business use is required to meet the requirements of the post in full.
  • Experience of working in a supported housing or residential environment.
  • A health and social care qualification or third level education.
