Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment LTD. is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor for a Good-rated secondary school in Walsall. You will work with students, teachers and pastoral staff to improve behaviour, engagement and attitudes to learning in a welcoming, supportive environment.

You will provide one-to-one and small-group mentoring, build positive relationships, and help students re-engage with learning after behavioural incidents, supporting safeguarding and inclusion at every step.

Qualifications

• Experience with young people in secondary school, education, youth work or pastoral settings.
• Calm, consistent and positive approach to managing challenging behaviour.
• Ability to build strong professional relationships while maintaining boundaries.
• Resilient, patient and able to stay composed in difficult situations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Team player within a wider pastoral and safeguarding team.
• Committed to inclusion and supporting every young person’s progress.
• Organised, proactive and able to use initiative.
• Understands safeguarding and promoting welfare of children and young people.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group mentoring for students needing behavioural or pastoral support.
• Build positive, trusting relationships and act as a positive role model.
• Help students understand and manage their behaviour and make positive choices.
• Support students to develop confidence, resilience, emotional regulation and social skills.
• Support re-engagement with learning after behavioural incidents.
• Collaborate with teaching and pastoral staff to implement individual strategies.
