Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment LTD. is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor for a good-rated secondary school in the Walsall area.

The role focuses on improving student behaviour, engagement and attitudes to learning, with close collaboration with teachers and pastoral staff. The successful candidate will provide one-to-one and small-group mentoring, build strong relationships, and support safeguarding and inclusion within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people in education, youth work or pastoral settings.
• Calm, consistent and positive approach to managing challenging behaviour.
• Ability to build professional relationships with students while maintaining boundaries.
• Resilient, patient and able to stay composed in difficult situations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work as part of a wider pastoral and safeguarding team.
• Commitment to inclusion and belief that every young person can progress with the right support.
• Organised, proactive and able to use initiative.
• Understanding safeguarding and promoting welfare of children and young people.

Responsibilities

• Providing one-to-one and small-group mentoring for students needing behavioural or pastoral support.
• Building positive, trusting relationships with students and acting as a consistent role model.
• Supporting students to understand and manage their behaviour and make positive choices.
• Helping students develop confidence, resilience, emotional regulation and social skills.
• Supporting students to re-engage with learning after incidents or difficulties.
• Working with teaching and pastoral staff to implement individual behaviour and support strategies.
