Job summary

Tilbury Douglas is offering a Year Out Placement for students studying Civil, Structural or Building Services Engineering. You will be part of a live project team, gaining hands-on experience on site in the North East region.

This is a site-based placement in Shotley Bridge that develops skills in planning, safety, quality, programme and commercial aspects while supporting day-to-day site operations.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Construction Management or related built environment discipline.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day management of site operations, ensuring works are delivered safely and to the project programme.
• Develop understanding of how construction and engineering works are delivered safely and to high standards.
• Contribute to setting out, surveying and engineering control on site.
• Support preparation of method statements, risk assessments, inspection/test plans and quality docs.
• Assist with coordinating subcontractors, suppliers and site teams.
• Attend and contribute to planning meetings and progress reviews.
• Help monitor progress, quality, health & safety, and environmental performance.
• Support site logistics and sequencing of construction activities.
• Review drawings and specifications to translate them into on-site tasks.
• Collaborate with design, commercial and operational teams to resolve issues.
