Job summary

Mole Valley Farmers is seeking a hands-on Yard Team Member for our Newton Abbot store. You will support day-to-day yard operations, assist customers, and help maintain a safe, welcoming environment.

You will lift goods up to 25kgs, work outdoors in all weather, and collaborate with the Stock Supervisor to ensure smooth store operations. The role involves part-time hours (5.5 hours per week, Sundays) with a permanent contract.

Qualifications

• Experience in a yard, warehouse, or retail environment preferred.
• Familiarity with agricultural or countryside settings beneficial.
• Forklift licence advantageous.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow processes.
• Awareness of Data Protection / GDPR and Health & Safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Deliver excellent customer service at the counter and in the yard.
• Receive, check, and load stock accurately and efficiently.
• Support Point of Sale operations when required.
• Maintain external areas to high presentation standards.
• Investigate stock discrepancies and participate in stock reviews.
• Participate in stocktaking and maintain stock file integrity.
• Follow health and safety procedures and UFAS regulations.

We’re looking for a hardworking and customer-focused Yard Team Member to support the day-to-day operations of our yard and store. This is a hands‑on role where you’ll help maintain a safe, organised, and welcoming environment for our members and customers, while working collaboratively with colleagues across the business.

About The Role

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Part-time

Hours of Work: 5.5 Hours per week, working every Sunday

As a Yard Team Member, you’ll play a key role in stock handling, customer service, and maintaining high standards across external areas. You’ll support the Stock Supervisor and wider team to ensure efficient operations and a positive experience for everyone who visits the store. This role includes external working in all weather conditions and consistent lifting of goods up to 25kgs into Customers cars

Key responsibilities

• Delivering excellent customer service at the counter and across the yard
• Receiving, checking, and loading stock accurately and efficiently
• Supporting Point of Sale operations when required
• Maintaining external areas to a high standard of presentation
• Investigating stock discrepancies and supporting seasonal stock reviews
• Participating in stocktaking and maintaining stock file integrity
• Following health & safety procedures and UFAS regulations

About You

• Experience in a yard, warehouse, or retail environment (preferred)
• Familiarity with agricultural or countryside settings (beneficial)
• A forklift truck licence (advantageous)
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow processes accurately
• Good IT skills and confidence using systems
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks
• Awareness of Data Protection / GDPR and Health & Safety standards

• This role includes assisting customers in to their vehicles with products up to 25kgs consistently throughout the day
