Job summary

Jewson in Totnes is seeking a Yard Sales Advisor to join our branch team. This full-time position runs Monday to Friday from 7:30 to 17:00, plus every other Saturday 08:00–12:00. You will help customers, maintain yard standards, and support sales initiatives in a friendly, ethical environment.

Training is provided for forklift operations and other key tasks. We value decency, enthusiasm, and a collaborative spirit as part of our thriving branch team.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service skills and a positive attitude.
• Strong communication and relationship-building abilities.
• Enthusiasm, integrity and teamwork are essential.
• Willingness to learn product ranges and pass on knowledge.
• Ability to work Monday to Friday with alternating Saturdays.

Responsibilities

• Serve customers with prompt, friendly help in yard, counter and shop floor.
• Ask open questions to understand current and future needs.
• Maintain high standards across yard and shop floor.
• Operate machinery safely; assist with offloading, picking and packing.
• Support initiatives to boost sales, margin and service.
• Develop product knowledge to meet customer requirements.
• Assist loading/unloading vehicles; training provided for forklift.

We are recruiting for a Yard Sales Advisor to join our friendly Jewson branch in Totnes TQ9 5JA

This is a full-time role working Monday-Friday 7:30 - 17:00, and every other Saturday from 08:00-12:00.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Acknowledge every customer, ascertain their needs and wow them with quick and efficient service
• Ask open questions to build strong relationships and understand our customers current and future requirements so we can support all their needs
• Maintain excellent standards across the yard, counter and shop floor
• Operate machinery safely and carry out key operational activities such as offloading, picking, packing, restocking and loading vehicles
• Support business initiatives to increase sales, margin & service as required
• Continually develop your knowledge of core and specialist product lines to meet customer needs
• Loading and unloading vehicles both manually and with a forklift (training will be provided)
