Job summary

Neos Recruitment Ltd in Grantham, Lincolnshire, is seeking an experienced Workshop Engineer to join a developing depot. You will service, maintain and repair forklift trucks and material handling equipment, ensuring reliability and safety for customers.

The role covers planned maintenance, fault finding across mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems, and report preparation. You will work in a hands-on capacity, help establish the workshop, and contribute to growth as the depot expands.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Workshop Engineer or similar role.
• Strong mechanical knowledge with experience on material handling equipment or forklifts.
• Good fault-finding across mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload.
• Proactive approach to maintenance, repairs and problem-solving.
• Attention to detail and commitment to safe working practices.
• Full UK driving licence advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned maintenance, servicing and repairs on forklift trucks and material handling equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.
• Complete fault-finding and troubleshooting to identify equipment issues.
• Carry out inspections, testing and preventative maintenance.
• Prepare equipment for hire, sale or return to customers, ensuring standards.
• Complete service reports and relevant paperwork accurately.
• Ensure all work is carried out in line with health and safety procedures.
• Help maintain a clean, organised and efficient workshop environment.
• Support development of the new Grantham depot.

The Opportunity

We are working with a specialist in forklift trucks and material handling equipment who is developing a new depot in Grantham. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Workshop Engineer to join the team during an exciting period of growth, helping to establish the workshop and maintain a range of equipment to a high standard.

The successful candidate will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing material handling equipment, ensuring machinery is safe, reliable and ready for use.

The Role

• Carry out planned maintenance, servicing and repairs on forklift trucks and material handling equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.
• Complete fault-finding and troubleshooting to identify equipment issues efficiently.
• Carry out inspections, testing and preventative maintenance.
• Prepare equipment for hire, sale or return to customers, ensuring it meets the required standards.
• Complete service reports, maintenance records and relevant paperwork accurately.

• Play an active role in supporting the development of the new Grantham depot.

The Candidate

• Previous experience as a Workshop Engineer, Forklift Engineer, Plant Engineer or similar.
• Strong mechanical knowledge, with experience working on material handling equipment or forklifts highly desirable.
• Good fault-finding and diagnostic skills across mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
• A proactive approach to maintenance, repairs and problem-solving.
• Good attention to detail and a commitment to safe working practices.
• A full UK driving licence would be advantageous.
