Job summary

Interaction Technical is seeking a Workshop Engineer (Forklifts) to join the workshop team in Northamptonshire. The role involves servicing, maintaining and repairing forklift trucks and plant machinery at the Wellingborough site, in a dedicated workshop environment.

You will diagnose faults, perform servicing, and complete repairs with a focus on engines, hydraulics, batteries, and electrical systems. Monday–Friday, 08:00–17:00, permanent full-time role with overtime opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must have experience in plant, agricultural, HGV or material handling industries.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulics, electrical and mechanical systems.
• Experience with engines and battery-powered equipment.
• Solid fault finding, service and repair skills.
• NVQ / City & Guilds in mechanical/electrical engineering is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults, service and repair forklift trucks and plant equipment in a workshop.
• Carry out pre-delivery inspections and prepare equipment for hire or resale.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop.
• Complete job sheets and service records accurately.

The Role

Based at the Wellingborough site, you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, and repairing a range of forklift trucks and plant machinery within a workshop environment.

Key responsibilities include:

• Diagnosing faults, carrying out servicing, and completing repairs on forklift and plant equipment
• Conducting pre-delivery inspections (PDI) on new and used machinery
• Carrying out mechanical and electrical fault finding
• Working on key systems including:
• Engines
• Batteries
• Hydraulics
• Pneumatics
• Reconditioning and preparing equipment for hire or resale
• Completing job sheets and service records accurately
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised workshop

What We’re Looking For

• Experience working in the plant, agricultural, HGV or material handling industries (essential)
• Strong knowledge of hydraulics, electrical, and mechanical systems (essential)
• Experience with engines and battery-powered equipment
