Job summary

Unify Workshop Controller role in Weston Super Mare is a permanent position within a busy plant hire operation. You will coordinate and plan all workshop activity, arrange servicing, breakdown responses and routine maintenance to keep the fleet ready for use.

The role requires strong planning, coordination and communication skills, with proficiency in MS Office and asset-tracking tools. You will work closely with the equipment hire team to optimise fleet availability and maintenance workflows.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in service coordination or workshop support.
• Experience in construction plant or equipment hires is preferred.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Allocate maintenance tasks to technicians with proper tooling and parts.
• Coordinate external engineers and manage purchase orders and invoices.
• Plan regular servicing and inspections to minimise downtime.
• Collaborate with equipment hire team to manage fleet availability.
• Investigate damage-related repairs and issue invoices.
• Maintain logs for repairs, servicing history, stock and schedules.

Overview:

Unify are thrilled to be recruiting for a Workshop Controller to join an established Plant Hire company focusing on the construction sector who are based in Weston Super Mare.

You’ll be the contact for all workshop-related activity; coordinating and planning the response for breakdowns, servicing and routine maintenance.

What do I need?

• Proven experience in a Service Coordination, Customer Service, Service Advisor or Workshop Support role preferably within construction plant, car dealership, equipment hires or a similarly fast-paced environment.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to juggle competing priorities and stay calm under pressure.
• Confident and clear communicator, both on calls and via email.
• Competency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with digital maintenance or asset tracking tools.

Responsibilities:

• Take charge of allocating maintenance tasks to technicians, ensuring they are fully equipped with the right tools, parts and information to deliver top-quality fixes on the first attempt.
• Oversee the involvement of external engineers and service providers, including handling purchase orders and processing invoices.
• Plan and schedule regular servicing and compliance inspections to minimise unplanned downtime and keep everything operating smoothly.
• Collaborate closely with the equipment hire team to manage fleet availability and arrange backup machinery when required.
• Investigate and process damage-related repairs, including identifying chargeable issues, sourcing replacement components, and issuing invoices accordingly.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date logs for repairs, servicing history, stock levels, and maintenance schedules
