Job summary

Unify is recruiting a Workshop Controller in Weston Super Mare to lead workshop activity and coordinate maintenance responses for a plant hire fleet. You will oversee technicians, manage servicing schedules and liaise with external engineers to ensure first-time fixes where possible.

The role is permanent, office-based with a 42.5-hour week, Monday to Friday. The salary is up to £34,000 depending on experience, with benefits tied to an established employer support program.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a Service Coordination, Customer Service, Service Advisor or Workshop Support role preferably within construction plant or similar fast-paced environment.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to juggle competing priorities and stay calm under pressure.
• Confident and clear communicator, both on calls and via email.
• Competency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with digital maintenance or asset tracking tools.

Responsibilities

• Take charge of allocating maintenance tasks to technicians, ensuring they are equipped with tools, parts and information for top-quality fixes on the first attempt.
• Oversee external engineers and service providers, including handling purchase orders and processing invoices.
• Plan and schedule regular servicing and compliance inspections to minimise unplanned downtime and keep operations smooth.
• Collaborate with the equipment hire team to manage fleet availability and arrange backup machinery when required.
• Investigate and process damage-related repairs, identify chargeable issues, source parts, and issue invoices.
• Maintain accurate logs for repairs, servicing history, stock levels and maintenance schedules.
