Job summary

Unify are recruiting a Workshop Controller in Weston Super Mare to lead workshop activity for a plant hire division. You will coordinate breakdowns, servicing and routine maintenance, ensuring first-time fixes and smooth operations.

You will liaise with technicians and external engineers, plan servicing, manage parts and invoices, and maintain accurate records. The role offers training and progression in a stable, employee-focused company.

Responsibilities

  • Allocate maintenance tasks to technicians with right tools and parts.
  • Oversee external engineers and service providers; manage POs and invoices.
  • Plan servicing and inspections to minimise downtime.
  • Coordinate with equipment hire team to manage fleet availability.
  • Identify chargeable repairs, source parts and issue invoices.
  • Maintain logs for repairs, servicing, stock and schedules.

Job Title: Workshop Controller

Location: Weston Super Mare (Office Based)

Salary: Up to £34,000 (DOE)

Job Type: Permanent, Monday - Friday, 42.5hours pw

Overview

Unify are thrilled to be recruiting for a Workshop Controller to join an established Plant Hire company focusing on the construction sector who are based in Weston Super Mare.

You'll be the main point of contact for all workshop activity, coordinating and planning responses to breakdowns, servicing and routine maintenance. Responsibilities
  • Take charge of allocating maintenance tasks to technicians, ensuring they are fully equipped with the right tools, parts and information to deliver top-quality fixes on the first attempt.
  • Oversee the involvement of external engineers and service providers, including handling purchase orders and processing invoices.
  • Plan and schedule regular servicing and compliance inspections to minimise unplanned downtime and keep everything operating smoothly.
  • Collaborate closely with the equipment hire team to manage fleet availability and arrange backup machinery when required.
  • Investigate and process damage-related repairs, including identifying chargeable issues, sourcing replacement components, and issuing invoices accordingly.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date logs for repairs, servicing history, stock levels, and maintenance schedules.
What do I need
  • Proven experience in a Service Coordination, Customer Service, Service Advisor or Workshop Support role preferably within construction plant, car dealership, equipment hires or a similarly fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to juggle competing priorities and stay calm under pressure.
  • Confident and clear communicator, both on calls and via email.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with digital maintenance or asset tracking tools
