Job summary

Kier Transportation based in Yeovil is seeking Winter Maintenance Drivers to cover unsociable hours on a rota, including weekends, to keep UK roads moving during winter.

This fixed-term zero-hour contract runs through April 2027 with flexible days, nights, and weekends, plus call-out and weather-working requirements. You will drive gritting vehicles, fit snow ploughs, and maintain required records.

Qualifications

• Must hold LGV Class 2 licence (CPC required).
• Willingness to undertake role-specific training.
• Experience with winter maintenance driving is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Drive gritter vehicles to spread salt during cold weather.
• Cover unsociable hours on a rota including weekends.
• Maintain driver and vehicle records and complete checks.

We're looking for Winter Maintenance Drivers that can cover unsociable hours on a rota basis including weekends to join our Transportation team based in Yeovil.

Fixed term zero hour contract to April 2027 - Flexible days / nights / weekends - Call out & weather dependant

Salary

£18.04 per hour Monday to Saturday and £23.52 per hour on Sunday and Bank Holidays PLUS weekly standby of £238.99

What will you be responsible for?

As a Winter Maintenance Driver, you'll be working within the Maintenance team,supporting them in key essential works, driving gritting vehicles to spread salt onto the roads during colder days and nights, keeping the UK's roads moving.

Your day to day will include:

• Driving a gritter vehicle, covering unsociable hours
• Fitting a snow plough during adverse weather conditions
• Maintaining relevant driver and vehicle records

This role of Winter Maintenance Driver is great for you if:

• You can drive and hold a current LGV class 2 licence as a minimum
• Have CPCaccreditation and willing to undertake trainingassociated with the role
