Balfour Beatty plc is recruiting a Winter Maintenance Driver for Warwickshire on a zero hours contract. You will operate winter gritters, perform vehicle inspections, and participate in a standby rota to respond to weather events.

Role involves evenings, nights, early mornings and weekends as needed, with emphasis on safety and public service. You will be part of a team maintaining safe roads during adverse weather.

Qualifications

• Class 2 (Category C) driving licence required.
• Driver CPC qualification required.
• Digital Tachograph card required.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out daily vehicle inspections and reporting any defects.
• Driving winter maintenance gritters along designated routes.
• Operating gritting vehicles to required quality standards.
• Supporting snow clearance activities when required.
• Ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and right first time.
• Following all depot and fleet movement procedures.
• Reporting near misses, good practices and safety observations.
• Complying with driver hours regulations and company procedures.
• Promoting Zero Harm culture at all times.
• Acting as a professional ambassador for Balfour Beatty within the local community.

Are you a reliable, safety-conscious driver looking for a role where your work makes a real difference? Balfour Beatty is recruiting Winter Maintenance Drivers to play a crucial role in keeping Warwickshire's roads safe and accessible throughout the winter months.

As part of our dedicated winter operations team, you'll be at the forefront of responding to challenging weather conditions, carrying out gritting and snow clearance activities that help protect local communities and keep people moving.

This is a rewarding opportunity to be part of an experienced team delivering an essential public service when it's needed most.

Working in winter maintenance offers a unique and varied role, where no two shifts are the same. You'll operate specialist vehicles, work alongside skilled colleagues, and take pride in helping to maintain a safe road network during adverse weather conditions.

To support our winter service, you'll participate in a standby rota, with availability required every other week as a minimum throughout the winter season. Due to the nature of the work, shifts can take place during evenings, nights, early mornings and weekends, ensuring we're ready to respond whenever conditions demand.
