Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is seeking reliable Winter Maintenance Drivers for Lincolnshire, operating on a zero hours contract from locations around Lincolnshire. You will join our winter operations team, performing grit coverage and snow clearance to keep roads safe during cold weather.

A standby rota is required, with availability every other week, and unsociable hours including early mornings and nights. You will carry out pre-shift vehicle inspections, drive gritters on planned routes, and support

Qualifications

• Class 2 Driving Licence (Category C) is required.
• Driver CPC Qualification is required.
• Digital Tachograph Card is required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out daily vehicle inspections and report defects.
• Drive winter maintenance gritters along designated routes.
• Operate gritting vehicles to required quality standards.
• Support snow clearance activities when required.
• Ensure work is completed safely and efficiently the first time.
• Follow all depot and fleet movement procedures.
• Report close calls and safety observations.
• Comply with driver hours regulations and company procedures.

Location: Lincolnshire (operating from either one: Pode Hole, Thurlby, Chainbridge, Ancaster, Horncastle, Manby, Sturton and Willingham)

Help Keep Lincolnshire Moving This Winter. Balfour Beatty is looking for reliable and safety‑focused Winter Maintenance Drivers to support the delivery of our winter service across Lincolnshire. As part of our winter operations team, you’ll play a vital role in keeping roads safe during cold weather by carrying out gritting and snow clearance activities. This is an excellent opportunity for professional drivers who enjoy working as part of a team, are committed to health and safety, and take pride in delivering essential services to local communities.

You will be required to participate in a standby rota, with availability every other week as a minimum throughout the winter season. Winter maintenance operates unsociable hours, for example early hours and nights.

What you'll be doing

• Carrying out daily vehicle inspections and reporting any defects.
• Driving winter maintenance gritters along designated routes.
• Operating gritting vehicles to required quality standards.
• Supporting snow clearance activities when required.
• Ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and correctly the first time.
• Following all depot and fleet movement procedures.
• Reporting close calls, good practices and safety observations.
• Complying with driver hours regulations and company procedures.
• Promoting Balfour Beatty's Zero Harm culture at all times.
• Acting as a professional ambassador for Balfour Beatty within the local community.

Essential Requirements

• Class 2 (Category C) Driving Licence
