Job summary

Balfour Beatty Living Places in Telford is recruiting a Winter Maintenance Driver to keep the local highway network safe during the winter months. You will operate assigned winter routes, salt and grit roads, and support snow clearance as required.

This rota-based role requires a valid Class 2 HGV licence, Driver CPC, a tachograph card, and a strong commitment to health and safety. You will work with a standby rota and follow all safety and operational procedures at the depot.

• Support delivery of winter maintenance services across the highway network.

• Complete and report daily vehicle checks.
• Adhere to health, safety and quality standards; ensure work is correct first time.
• Follow fleet movement procedures at the depot.
• Help keep the highway safe for all road users.

Join Balfour Beatty as a Winter Maintenance Driver based in Telford, working within our UKCS Living Places business. You will play an important role in keeping the local highway network safe and accessible throughout the winter months.

This is a rota-based position, and you will be required to participate in a standby rota at least every other week.

What you'll be doing

As a Winter Maintenance Driver, your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the delivery of winter maintenance services across the highway network
• Salting and gritting roads in preparation for cold and icy conditions
• Assisting with snow clearance when required
• Driving assigned winter maintenance routes safely and efficiently
• Completing and reporting daily vehicle checks
• Carrying out all activities in accordance with the required health, safety and quality standards
• Ensuring work is completed correctly the first time
• Following all fleet movement procedures at the operational depot
• Helping to keep the highway safe for all road users

Who we’re looking for

You will need to have:

• A valid Class 2 HGV licence
• Driver CPC qualification

• The flexibility to work a rota-based shift pattern and participate in the standby rota
