Job summary

ALPADIA seeks a Welfare Officer to lead safeguarding and welfare for seasonal programmes in the UK. You will prioritise student safety, care for ill students, manage attendance and accommodation, and coordinate with internal teams and external partners.

A strong background in safeguarding and youth welfare is required. You will also train staff, manage shifts, and ensure smooth welfare operations, including check-in/out and logging activities, while upholding all policies for a positive, safe

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a pastoral, welfare, safeguarding, or residential management role with children or young people.
• Experience working in a summer camp, boarding school, or youth programme setting.
• Demonstrated ability to manage safeguarding cases and welfare incidents professionally and sensitively.
• Strong leadership and people-management skills in a team environment.
• Excellent understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and health and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize student safety and implement safeguarding and health and safety policies with the Camp Manager.
• Designated safeguarding staff for the centre; care for sick students and arrange medical responses.
• Manage student presence-check registers and attendance records.
• Coordinate with Customer Services, Sales, and external stakeholders on welfare matters.
• Lead training and induction of staff; create and distribute Welfare Officer rota.
• Line manage Welfare Team and relay overnight information to the wider staff.
• Oversee check-in/check-out procedures and allocation of students in accommodation.
• Support the Activity Manager and Activity Leaders to run the programme safely.
• Ensure compliance with policy, record-keeping, and emergency incident management.
